How to make the characters?

#1 Post by Bittersweetmango »

I know how to draw, but how am I supposed to fit my drawing to ren'py?

Or what engine am I supposed to use to make characters? With different expressions?

I think you picked the wrong place for this topic. You should go consult http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewforum.php?f=8 rather than the Works in Progress (where the threads are mostly about games-in-the-making).

(And as much as I'd like to help you with that, I honestly have no idea.)

[Edit:]

Okay, scratch that. Try asking/searching in the Creator's Corner. Seems more appropriate there.

Let's first start with what you /do/ know. Do you know how to draw digitally? If so, what program do you use (Photoshop, Sai, Gimp etc)?

Sprites aren't particularly complicated to create, but that tends to depend on where you are diving in from. Once we know where you are starting from, we can give more appropriate information rather than overloading you with everything in one go.

Cool, Paint tool Sai should be all you need since it's capable of layers.

Deji actually did a really nice sprite making tutorial and she also uses Sai so it might help explain the steps :) http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... =26&t=9518
