Duties of the Editor would include:
- Checking the game's full script for typographical and grammatical errors, and correcting them
- Monitoring the narration and dialogue for style and flow, and suggesting or making alterations as needed
- Unifying the writing styles of multiple writers, ensuring consistency of narrative and character voices across the script
- Identifying locations in the script where player agency could be more greatly enforced by adding choices or referencing previous scenes
- Making suggestions to the rest of the writing team, as needed, about how to improve the script as a whole
- 5+ years of creative writing experience (amateur or professional)
- Previous experience in proofreading and editing prose writing
- Previous experience in working in a Ren'py script, or analogous coding experience
- Familiarity with fantasy tropes and settings (preferred, but not required)
- Familiarity with the narrative structure of visual novels or other interactive fiction (strongly preferred)
If selected, applicants would be expected to be accessible for communication with the rest of the Aqualuft team, so being familiar with Skype (preferred) or other IM service is desirable.
Payment is a flat fee, paid via Paypal. The base offer is $200 (USD) total for the completed assignment, negotiable upon selection, with opportunity for pay increase or bonuses. If the work is completed in a satisfactory manner, the opportunity to continue work on the game's "Deluxe" edition release will be extended.
Applications will be accepted via PM or e-mail. Please include a link to your portfolio or writing samples, as well as a few details about your experience. Applicants who fulfill the requirements will be provided with a short editing test to complete.
