Okay guys I need to know something. I'm thinking of making a major and unusual writing change for a visual novel and I want to know if this is just too much and will throw you off from enjoying the game. If so I'll just save it for the beginning before gameplay but...

So as you know this is based on a fairytale and being a book is a huge theme I have going on here. I wanted to know if I made this third person limited as opposed to first person would that throw people off? Like if there was a narrator who told the story that you controlled as opposed to being the character and choosing what they would do.

I've been debating this and can't decide if it's too much of a change...

I wrote Seraphine in 3rd person limited, so I see no problem with that whatsoever. I'm confused on what you want to do with the "narrator" however. Did you mean to make them a character? If it's just a narrator, and it's never addressed as a character, I would have no problem with it. If you mean for it to be one of those "drop a modern girl in on a story" things, I would be more adverse to it.

And I KNEW that I had read a VN with the POV somewhere along the lines, but couldn't figure out where.

It's third person, no extra character. I say narrator just because, well, it feels more correct than just saying 3rd person in the way I'll write it but it shouldn't be any different than normal 3rd person.

It'll be fine! It will seem a lot more like a fairy tale, since every one that I know is in third person. "Once upon a time, I overslept and my fairy godmother ..." doesn't sound particularly right. xD

A third person narrator in a story like this is a great idea. It'll go well with the whole fairytale theme and make it more story-like

You know, it really does. Ooooh, I'm getting feelings of "Princess Bride" and how awesome would that be? Doubt it'll be worked the same way, but that's fine with me. XD

Which if people were wondering what that was about XD I finished the first CG for the game. Now that I'm done with RR's chibis I've been channeling my need to doodle around into CGs. My focus however is more on RR as during college time I don't have too much time~

If anyone was interested~ Of course I won't be posting many of them here, but just wanted to give you a look at how they're going to look. I tried to make them less complicated coloring wise so I don't take a million hours to do them like with the sprites. Backgrounds are done in the style of my background artist, but is me so not as nice.

I think the CG looks awesome ^_^

Wow it's pretty. Freeing and gentle. Solid colors really give an impression to it.

For your Q before I think there were alot of fairytale's that did that. A narrator who's not a character.
Depending how you write the narration it can give a huge impact right in the beginning of your story.
Like how they did in Disney's Alladin, and Beauty and The Beast.

Oh hallo everyone.

Still alive her, been busy with Rock Robin, but got hit by sudden need to work on this so I thought I'd leave an update about it.

Writing for the demo is officially 2/3 complete, putting it at 11,000 words currently and there is enough that I can start plugging it in to Ren'Py and figuring out the coding and how I want to go about doing this coding wise.

Art wise there hasn't been too much more of an update, but I plan on working on that as soon as I finish the bits left on Snow White's side of the story.

Glad to see this isn't dead yet! Looking forward to demo!

So after a year of secretly hating the girls' sprites I finally redid them and I'm MUCH happier. The mother and Donovan will be a piece of cake to match to this, which is more of my natural style. I'll have to redo the lineart style for the animals but I shouldn't have to actually redraw them thank goodness XD.

I'll update the first post with the new sprites later, but for now enjoy this little promotional picture I put together, yay XD



And yes, I am so weirdly productive in SWRR for no reason whatsoever, but it's awesome
